In my daily life, I am often asked where I'm from or what I am. Inside my artistic practice, I am home. it is a space for remembering what it's like to belong.
I create what I create because it is a part of my identity. I have been performing since I was five years old. Now that I am an independent artist, my creations are a way for me to explore areas of my traditional dance that were previously taboo to me because of my gender. It is a way for me to explore my voice as another appendage of my form-- instead of separate from my dance.
